Key Person

The key person is a named practitioner who has responsibilities for a small group of children, they are there to help the child feel safe and secure. The role is important for both child and parent and it is an approach set out in the EYFS.7 Jun 2015

Routine:

Please note the routine below is an outline of our general day, it is subject to outings and children's individual needs. Everyday your child has the opportunity for outdoor play! Please note: activities, circle time, meals, etc.. can take place in a range of environments, not just indoors!

7:30-9:00am Arrive. Self Registration

Children find their names on the door. Place them above their pegs. Place their coats and bags on their pegs. This is a great opportunity for parents to handover any key information we might need to know. Children wash their hands, find their named placemat and join their friends for their breakfast. After Breakfast the children enjoy free play and a catch up with their friends.

9:10-9:20am Circle time

Stories, songs, talk about our emotions and introduce our activity. We aim to incorporate the children's current interests into the session.

9:20-9:45am Adult Initiated Activity

9:45-10am Morning Shake Up

Singing/dancing/Aerobics

10am Snack Time

Children wash their hands and help to prepare a healthy snack. The children enjoy snack time at the table together.

10:30am-11:40am Free Play

This is an opportunity for the children to play their own game. We will always be nearby to support them when needed e.g. offer suggestions, more resources, helping to resolve a conflict and helping them to achieve their desired outcome. During this time we will also engage with each child individually, helping to support their next steps.

11:40am Tidy up time

11:45am Story time

Wash hands, find their placemats and sit down at the table. The children will enjoy a story whilst one of us will collect lunch.

12:00 Noon - Lunch

Children help to serve their healthy meals. Children all enjoy meal times together.

12:30 - Nap time

For children who require a nap. Please note that naps can take place at any time of the day depending on the child's/parents' individual needs.

1.00-2:15pm Free Play

During this time we aim to engage the children in restful activities to allow the children who do not nap to have some down time. A choice of activities will also be set up for the children to engage in e.g. Books, Puzzles, Playdough, drawings etc.. This could take place either indoors or outdoors, weather permitting.

2:20-2:30pm Circle Time

Great opportunity to talk about how we are feeling, engage in story time and music.

2:30-3:00pm Adult initiated activity

These are carefully planned to ensure they are in the interest of the children and in line with their age and development, helping to support each child’s next steps.
