Managing behaviour Policy

Promoting positive behaviour is very important. Little Explorers do this by:

  • Praising the children for good behaviour
  • Treating each child individually helping them to feel valued
  • Being a good role model
  • Rewarding good behaviour

We help the children by reinforcing our house rules. We aim to ensure the children’s routines are maintained helping them to feel as safe and secure as possible.

Below is the strategy we have developed in helping children with behaviour difficulties. Our procedure varies depending on the situation and age/stage of the child.

  • Distraction, this is done through removing the child from the situation and providing them with alternative activities.
  • Ignore inappropriate behaviour. Depending on the situation we may ignore bad behaviour as some children may display inappropriate behaviour in the aim of getting a reaction.
  • Discuss with the Child, if the child is of an appropriate age then we will discuss the consequences of their actions and help them express their emotions as well as understanding the emotions of others.
  • We will ensure that they understand we do not like the behaviour but we still like them as an individual.
  • Time Out. This will be done by removing the child away from their activity, giving them time and space to think about their actions.

In no circumstances would we ever hurt nor humiliate your child.

We will inform the parents when their child misbehaves; this will be done through either writing within their contact book or through a phone call after collection. We will ensure to tell you how the behaviour was dealt with. It is important we work together in order to create consistency and to support your child.
